Beaver Awards and Badges

When you make your Beaver promise, you’ll be given your Membership Award. It features a picture of the fleur de lis – an international symbol, worn by Beavers, cubs and scouts all over the world.

Activity badges can be earned throughout Beavers for taking part in activities, or by bringing evidence of meeting criteria during everyday life. There are a whole range of badges, so there is something for everybody.

Staged badges can be started from as early as Beavers, and can be built on. For example, for your first sleepover you may get your Nights Away Stage 1, by the time you are a Scout you will have earned lots more stages.

Challenge Awards are all about stepping outside your comfort zone. Try out something you wouldn’t normally be interested in. Take the lead on something that scares you. Along the way, you’ll unlock hidden talents and stand tall.

This is the highest award a Beaver can earn. To complete it, you need to complete all of the Challenge Awards, plus four Activity badges.

Joining In Awards are given to those who always roll up their sleeves and get stuck in. You can collect one for every year you’re in the Scout Association, starting from your very first day as a Beaver right up until your last meeting.

Within their Colony, Beavers are part of a Lodge. A Lodge is a smaller group of Beavers, sometimes headed up by a peer leader. These peer leaders may be known as Lodge Leaders, Lodge Friends, Junior Leaders or another name.

They wear leadership stripes to celebrate their hard work and make sure everyone knows who they are.

Between the ages of 7½ and 8½, it’s usually time for Beavers to become Cubs. Complete this award to get to know your new leaders, make new friends and get a taste of what Cubs is really like before the big move.
